NICE online course and summer school

The Network for Intercultural Competence & Entrepreneurship (NICE) is a multi-university collaboration to help you develop intercultural competence and entrepreneurial skills.

What can you expect from the programme?

The programme consists of a three-month virtual learning journey in which you'll be educated on intercultural competences and entrepreneurial skills. Together with students from across Europe you will learn how to apply these skills and work in a transnational team to solve a global challenge, such as climate action, health and wellbeing, or clean and efficient energy. The content of the course aims to empower you with self-efficacy, effective team working and leadership skills. Prepare yourself for a changing job market with this challenging course and learn to work in an international setting with confidence!

NICE online course and summer school is mainly a virtual programme. In July, all students will meet at the final event: the NICE Summer School. Due to the current situation and travel restrictions, the summer school will be virtual as well.

“If you want to learn new things, you need to step out of your comfort zone. NICE is a great way to do that, and easy to combine because you can do it from home" -- Tavi Kurda, 2020 NICE alumnus

For you?

All current UvA students are eligible. You are welcome to apply, as long as you have an active enrollment with UvA during the entire programme. This programme is especially suitable for students whose opportunity to travel or study abroad is otherwise limited, such as students with specialized learning requirements, disabilities, caring responsibilities and more.

When and where?

The NICE online course starts in March and lasts about three months. The summer activity will run for five days in July.

How much time is required?

You should expect to spend an average of three to five hours per week on the online module and working with your team.

What are the costs? And is a scholarship possible?

There are no costs for the virtual course. In case of a physical summer school, part of the costs will be covered by the programme, and/or a scholarship opportunity.

Is this a credit-bearing programme?

NICE is a non-credit bearing certificate programme. It is designed as a valuable experience for your CV and LinkedIn, as well as an opportunity to meet students from all over Europe.

How can you apply?

You can apply for NICE 2021 via this application form. Applications for NICE close March 8, 2021, 23.59 CET.

* If you are a student from the EPICUR network, please apply here as well.
